(Some images can be clicked on for bigger versions) This crescent image of Uranus was taken by Voyager 2 as it was heading away from the planet. This picture of Uranus was taken by Voyager 2 in January 1986. The greenish color of Uranus is because of the methane and high-altitude photochemical smog in its atmosphere. This high quality mosaic is of Miranda, the innermost of Uranus' large moons.
